The Christian Motorcyclists Association is a non-profit organization totally supported by motorcyclists and enthusiasts who believe in Jesus Christ, believe in this ministry, and give sacrificial gifts of love. Founded in 1975, CMA now has over 155,000 applicants for membership and more than 1,190 chapters chartered in the United States. CMA is also represented in thirty-one other countries around the world.
The main purpose of the Christian Motorcyclists Association is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with motorcyclists. This is achieved by attending motorcycle rallies, tours, races, etc. and conducting worship services at these events whenever possible. Another way of reaching the lost is by going and serving them through handing out free water and coffee, ministering to the children, and helping those in need. Thousands have turned to Christ through the evangelistic ministry of CMA.
CMA uses a portion of Run for the Son monies to assist in the printing and distribution of multitudes of tracts, New Testaments, the Spoke-N-Word (Gospel of John), and paper cups with the message of the Gospel printed on them. These cups are used to distribute the free water and coffee at races and rallies, with the hope of making an impact at major events that hundreds of thousands of bikers attend.
This percentage, used to minister to bikers in the United States and all over the world, is specifically used to take the Gospel to searching people in the various ways described above. Over the past twenty-four years, Run for the Son has provided sixteen million dollars towards Home Missions, and since 2009 the funds have also gone to CMA International to reach people all over the world.
For more than thirty-two years, the impact of the JESUS film has been felt in jungles, deserts, and bustling cities. Director Erick Schenkel emphasizes, “Our mission is to provide people with a life changing encounter with Jesus through film.” Considered as THE catalyst in accelerating worldwide evangelism, discipleship, and church planting, the JESUS film has been translated into 1157 languages and shown in over 200 countries. Its cumulative viewing audience numbers more than 6 billion with more than 200 million people indicating a decision for Christ after viewing the film. The JESUS Film Project®, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, continues to reach lost people groups worldwide by delivering the Gospel in their heart language in creative and effective ways.
CMA’s partnership with The JESUS Film Project has made a huge impact in the lives of countless faithful Christians. Historically, for every dollar invested, at least ten people worldwide see the JESUS film and one person accepts Christ. With these estimates in mind, approximately 84 million people have viewed the film and about 8.4 million people have made decisions for Christ resulting from gifts to Run for the Son! Since 1998 when this partnership in global evangelism began, CMA gifts total over $8,534,449 to The JESUS Film Project.
CMA’s gifts over the years have helped train church planters, equip JESUS film teams, provide new lip-sync translations of the JESUS film, film showing equipment, film prints, DVDs, and vehicles that help get the Good News to the remotest areas of the world. CMA also was the major contributor to one of the projects newest films that is currently being used to reach women in very difficult/hard-to-reach areas.
Missionary Ventures began in 1983 as an interdenominational missionary organization to assist Guatemalan Christian leadership through strategic partnering relationships, enabling them to reach their own people with the love and message of Christ. From Guatemala, this vision has been carried throughout the globe; developing Christian leaders, assisting them to plant churches and ministries to reach out to the impoverished and hurting people in their communities.
Transportation is a strategic tool for world evangelism. Most indigenous pastors working in jungles, mountain villages, and distant towns are limited to walking. Through Missionary Ventures, CMA has been supplying motorcycles, bicycles, and other forms of transportation to indigenous pastors and evangelists. Through Run for the Son’s gifts to Missionary Ventures, CMA has placed over 4,490 motorcycles, 6,170 bicycles, 22 horses, sixteen boats, and one camel to pastors working in ninety different countries. Over the past twenty-four years, Run for the Son has donated $9,897,820 to Missionary Ventures.
Historically, most of the vehicles have gone to pastors and evangelists planting new churches and going into new areas with the Gospel. Typically they will plant a new church and within the first year see at least one hundred people come to Christ. Statistics are difficult to calculate but we have seen as many as twelve new churches being planted with the use of one motorcycle. Run for the Son helps these native Christian leaders expand their outreach “to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8b, NKJV).
Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel.
